Turquoise holidays: luxury travel tips for a fashionable vacation

We are great supporters of the Six Senses notion of rustic elegance.

Having just visited Six Senses Laamu, we determined that the chain’s outpost in the Maldives is possibly the best example to date of the ideology that masterfully marries distant beauty, green living, and uncompromising luxury.
What we loved most about this resort was the magnificent Agua del Oceano Villa: huge, with innovative features, and constructed in a style ideally suited to the dream vacation experience.

2. One & Only Reethi Rah

One and only Reethi Rah

After a few days at One & Only Reethi Rah, you will enjoy it and feel like remaining for a month and not get bored.

With its fantastic style, elegant atmosphere, and variety of attractions, Reethi Rah is like a cross between a spa, an upscale country club, and a beautiful playground.

It is a beautiful world in itself, The Pool Beach Villa we stayed in.

It’s opulent, trendy, and offers plenty of space inside and out.

when ever we visit, we spent a few days at a water village, which features a multi-tiered terrace surrounded by reclining nets, dotted throughout the blue shoals.

From time to time, we would plunge into the calm waves, directly from the deck.

This is a Pure happiness and enjoyment.

3. Huvafen Fushi

During our time here, we realized just how much Huvafen Fushi is pure escapism, delivering a refreshing reconnection to some of the true Maldivian essentials.

But the resort isn’t short of innovative ideas, with its famous underwater spa or glittering star infinity pool, still one of the most iconic in the country.

The wonderful bar on the water to view the sunsets and our ocean bungalow with pool.

Its thatched roof seems rustic, but the interior is anything but, with a hint of “modern urban loft” style and high-tech equipment to match.

4. Randheli Cheval Blanc

Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, the creative mind behind some of the world’s most remarkable resorts (such as Chedi Muscat and numerous Aman properties), Randheli delivers the pinnacle of contemporary luxury to the Maldives.
Among the top 10 luxury resorts in the Maldives, Cheval Blanc’s design is undoubtedly the most spectacular and exquisite, and its villas are just breathtaking.

5. Like Maalifushi

One of our recent excursions to the Maldives wouldn’t be complete without a stay at the COMO resort, which we’ve been looking forward to checking out since its introduction in 2015. Our idea? We would prefer the perfect combination of a quiet environment and the simple appearance of Maalifushi at any time.
This island smells lovely, owing to Shambhala, COMO’s own range of high-quality cosmetics, provided in the restrooms.
And the COMO Shambhala spa was as amazing as we expected.

6. Soneva Fushi

maldivas-soneva-fushi

This is the first resort built by Sonu Shivdasani and his girlfriend Eva, a power couple in the hospitality industry and the driving force behind the idea of a luxury barefoot vacation.

Soneva Fushi is the original desert island getaway in the Maldives; she basically originated the “castaway chic” trend single-handedly.

very mindful of the environment. Its sophisticated and unobtrusive luxury makes a visit to a hotel a magical experience.

The Soneva No-Shoes concept is not just on paper, as you will most likely go barefoot throughout your stay, as we did. The villas are many designed in a tree house style. These lovely hideouts are cleverly disguised by the dense greenery.

7. Hadahaa Park Hyatt Maldives

More than 10 kilometers from the next inhabited island, Hadahaa is reminiscent of the unspoilt Maldives of some fifty years ago.

But there is nothing antiquated about the complex.

The Park Hyatt surprises with a trendy environment and magnificent architecture.

Its reception hall, which looks like a big upturned wooden Dhoni, is nothing short of remarkable.

Situated on Huvadhoo, the largest and deepest atoll in the Maldives, Hadahaa offers the pure Maldivian experience of blue waters, powdery sandy beaches, and plentiful healthy coral, with some of the greatest snorkeling in the country.

8. Maldives W Retreat & Spa

In premium hotels enigmatically dubbed “W”, Marriott International showcases a confident and youthful brand, focusing on fun, entertainment, and music.

But it was only after visiting the W Retreat Maldives that we learned that what actually characterized the W experience was the exceptional service and attention to detail.

The W Retreat Maldives is suitable for anyone who likes a youthful ambiance, great decor, and contemporary music.

It’s seductive, seriously indulgent, and immensely opulent.

9. Ninth, Gili Lankanfushi

After a terrible fire ripped through much of the island (including the villa we stayed in!), Gili Lankanfushi is once again accepting reservations, following an intensive refurbishment.

Known as one of the top water villa resorts in the world and set on a gorgeous coral island surrounded by a glittering blue ocean, Gili Lankafushi offers a wonderfully tranquil experience that defines laid-back island luxury.

10. Cocoa Island (by COMO)

maldivas-cocoa-island-by-como

The big sister to the recently introduced Maalifushi by COMO (see #4), Cocoa Island delivers a pure island experience with its own style of elegant, pared-back simplicity.

There may not be an underwater restaurant or other fancy stuff, but the COMO Shambhala spa is amazing, the diving and snorkeling is great, the beach is just ideal, and the villas, styled as traditional dhoni fishing boats, lure with a romantic design.

Cocoa has a little isolated island vibe. All you have to remember is to pack your swimsuit. and maybe a few terrific beach reads.

11. Four Seasons Landaa Giravaaru

Equal parts romantic and family-friendly, this isolated resort provides vast luxury villas sprawled across a wild tropical island. Visitors may expect five-star facilities, world-class cuisine, stunning beaches and, above all, the renowned flawless service.

we love it because it don’t have one resort, but two, and honestly, both may rank among the top luxury resorts in the Maldives.

Four Seasons Landaa Giravaaru’s five-star sister hotel, Kuda Huraa, is a private island to the south, linked by the Four Seasons Explorer luxury catamaran, which cruises between the two destinations. Along the journey, pull anchor at outstanding dive locations, little isolated beaches and lonely island towns. Its a very beautiful place to be visit.
